Hello I'm only just fifty something, married to Geoff and I have one son Philip who has now finished languishing at Sussex University and has started to earn a living. We live in Worthing in West Sussex, although I originate from Leyland in Lancashire. I trained as an Registered General Nurse ( R.G.N - which used to be termed S.R.N. in the good old days!!!) some years ago at Preston School of Nursing in Lancashire.
I do enjoy wasting time by exploring the internet, particularly Genealogical, & writing sites. I have compiled my family tree on my maternal side (or for a different format at the family Tree maker site) and at present have traced one particular branch back to the 17th Century. I am fortunate in that the surnames that I am tracing are unusual - Seguss and Hipkin. I was hoping to investigate my paternal branches, but that will prove more difficult as my father was Irish and his surname was Keogh which is not uncommon in Southern Ireland. I also have compiled family history books for members of the family and in doing so have written and collected genealogy poems. As well as the above I'm expanding my computing skills with the help of both Geoff and Philip. Sometime ago I updated my laptop computer and I have found it invaluable as I have compiled a range of nursing related forms, assessment documents, charts, policies and procedures, in line with the National Care Standards, whilst being employed as a Matron/Manager of a Nursing Home. Who knows these may come in useful in my next job or I might be persuaded to help others on a Consultancy basis. I have recently taken some 'time out' of full time employment in the Nursing Home sector to get to grips with all my hobbies, build up my knowledge of the Radio Amateur world, and catch up on life in general. (I can thoroughly recommend it!!). But I expect the lack of cash will very shortly find me scanning the situation vacant column of the local rag!! So I'm trying to make the most of my 'time out'! But as it is now three years since I was gainfully employed as a nursing home manager I can feel myself sliding gracefully into retired mode! My husband Geoff retired last year and our joke has always been that when he retires I will go back out to work but I can't honestly see that happening as I have too much on my 'To Do' list. At the top of that list at the moment is to 'get down' to some more writing. I am in the process of writing a story about a family of Faerie Dragons. I also try to post a blog on a regular basis. (See link above).
I also enjoy reading, listening to music, knitting, counted cross-stitch, Suduko and doing crosswords. Also as all my hobbies and pastimes are somewhat sedentary I am following the Weight Watchers Program - now and again!!. .............More again than now!
