THE SECRET HEART OF THE INTERNET - By David Mather (
actually not related to us! )
You're convinced that the Internet is the greatest thing to hit the planet since sliced bread hit the bakery shelves. You know it's an almost limitless vault of information ready and waiting to answer all the questions you put to it...
So why is it that you can't quite seem to phrase the question properly? Why is it that when you look for information about Bass beer you get information about the British Anglers' Sportsman Society? Why can't you find your mate's e-mail address unless he tells you what it is?
It's because you're directing your questions to computers, and computers aren't very bright.
Happily, there's another way. There exists an oasis of human life in the heart of the internet. An inner cadre of people who are informed, knowledgeable and willing to share what they know with each other. A small community which existed before the Web itself, grew up with the internet, helped build the Internet, and uses the Internet to exchange information on literally any subject. It's called
CIX Conferencing, and now you too can be a part of it.
The thousands of people who are CIX Conferencing gather together on a system known as CIX. But unlike traditional
gatherings, not everyone need gather at the same time. Thanks to CIX's advanced bulletin board technology, time is of no importance. Read and write in your own time; your conversations are not time-bound.
And ask your questions. You don't need to find the expert on a particular subject. Several unpaid experts most likely will find your question and answer it at no charge. No need to spend hours searching for answers. No need to reformulate your question in countless different ways.
And why would anyone bother to answer your questions? The secret is the community. "Enquire within" is only a part of what CIX is about. To find out the rest, you need to try it.
CIX Conferencing. The secret heart of the Internet.
Further information can be found at the here at CIX itself;
Perhaps see you in the Conferences ?
